On Fridays and Saturdays, La Zuppa transforms itself into a Wine and Tapa Bar with Live Entertainment from 7:00 PM until closing. Here our philosophy of food and life continues! Eat well, share time with your friends, enjoy music, laughter and good conversation. |
We realized there was nothing on the North Shore to expose people to our culture, says owner Juan Carlos Paez. Every Friday and Saturday evening we bring to La Zuppa the world of Flamenco, accompanied by an ever-changing assortment of Tapas, little dishes to nibble on and share.

La Zuppa brings the tradition of providing a tasty accompaniment to lubricate the social discourse to North Vancouver. We have borrowed a bit from here and a bit from there to create our own collection of dishes. Enjoy our food as you are surrounded by intense and passionate Spanish music & dance.

Flamenco is the traditional song & dance of the Gypsies of Andalucía in southern Spain. It developed over several centuries from Gypsy, Moorish, Andalusian and other roots. Flamenco music and dance entered polite society in the early 19th century as café entertainment. Cante (“song”) and Baile (dance) is the core of flamenco. Text and melody of these songs, like the flamenco dance, are improvised within traditional structures such as characteristic rhythms and chords. |

We actively participate in Simon Fraser University’s Continuing Education Philosophers’ Café project. At La Zuppa we provide comfortable surroundings for vibrant street level discussions on burning issues of the day. We strive to keep this truly a street-level discussion with life experience as the only requirement.
The potential for a true democracy has never been greater, however it is being thwarted by information and work overload to the point that we abdicate the power to shape our world to others.
We welcome everyone to bring their experience and hopes for our world to contribute to an understanding of ourselves as a society. |
