Tapa Nights

Throughout the Mediterranean the custom of gathering in the evening for lively conversation & music with a glass of wine, sherry or other drinks remains strong. It is also traditional to enjoy your drink with an assortment of appetizers, known as Tapas in Spain or Mezze in Greece; these are little dishes to nibble on and share.La Zuppa brings the tradition of providing a tasty accompaniment to lubricate the social discourse to North Vancouver.




Our Savoury Tapas

We have borrowed a bit from here and a bit from there to put together our own little dialect of dishes. The Mediterranean diet is a healthy one, rich in olives and olive oils, cheeses, nuts, fruits and vegetables, fresh, marinated, roasted, or stewed, with a complement of nutrients as rich as the colors of the ingredients.

Alambres
Skewers of Chicken, beef, lamb or seafood

Albondigas
Bite-sized meatballs served with; our special Tomato Sauce

Arroz Criollo
A mini paella with chicken, pork, chorizo, seafood

Baba Ganoush
Portion of 8 oz

Bacalao
Salt Cod stewed up, Spanish style with tomatoes, potatoes & olives, served with white bread

Balkan Pita Gibenitza
Flaky layers of Filo layered with a mixture of cheeses and baked to a golden perfection

Bouillabaise
Seafood soup is found troughout the Mediterranean: Fennel and saffron broth full of fish, mussels, clams, shrimp,etc

Bruschetta
A variety of Bruschetta served with spicy Salsa

Ceviche
fish and a variety of other seafood, marinated in lemon juice, then combined with tomatoes & herbs

Champiñones al Ajo
Mushrooms sauteed in butter, garlic and white wine

The name refers to an Imam, or religious man who swooned at the taste of this Middle Eastern delicay! Eggplant stuffed with tomatoes onions raisins and spicec and baked

Spain’s most famous dish - rice overflowing with chicken, pork, chorizo and seafood imbued with the sweetness of saffron

Papas Paez
Our own version of Patatas Bravas marinated, roasted & baked with our special spicy tomato sauce

Pastel de Choclo
A Chilean Casserole consisting of : savoury ground beef and chicken, topped with sweet corn

Polenta Pibil
Polenta from Italy topped with cheese & pork or chicken stewed in traditional Yucatecan
style, in achiote

Home-made Desserts

To finish off a lovely evening why not try one of our home-made desserts. We only use the freshest ingredients, such as real cream and free-range eggs. Some of our desserts are also spiced up with fine liqueurs.

Flan de Leche a la Antigua
A unique Créme Caramel made according to a traditional Mexican recipe,
served with real whipping cream
